L’objectif de cette étude fut de réaliser un document destiné à guider les élus dans leur démarche et à faire un état des lieux sur la situation actuelle. Il s’avère que l’île de Moorea présente de nombreux attraits touristiques, naturels et culturels, et que de véritables améliorations ont été constatées au niveau de la gestion environnementale. Néanmoins, si la commune se portait candidate au terme de cette année, de grosses lacunes concernant le domaine de l’assainissement ne lui permettrait pas d’obtenir cette labellisation.
