Ils subissent fréquemment des périodes de blanchissement qui se traduisent par une perte de pigmentation du corail, lequel devient blanc. Ce signal, qui annonce une perte de biodiversité, est détecté par la télédétection. A l’Ile de la Réunion, de nombreuses études ont déjà été menées sur ses structures récifales jeunes, notamment à partir d’imagerie satellitaire. Seulement ces capteurs ont, d’une part, une résolution spatiale peu en adéquation avec la taille et l’hétérogénéité des entités à détecter et, d’autre part, ne sont pas réactifs.\r\nC'est pourquoi nous avons choisi de mettre en oeuvre une méthodologie pour cartographier le blanchissement corallien qui intègre des prises de vue effectuées d’ULM.
