                <text>L’Augustin-Fresnel II a été immergé sur la côte Caraïbe de la Guadeloupe le 9 juillet 2003. Sa quille repose sur des fonds dont la profondeur varie de -27 m (à la proue) à -29 m (à la poupe). Les fonds aux alentours de l’épave sont sableux avec de nombreux massifs coralliens dispersés. L’épave est posée presque droit sur sa quille. Quelques débris reposent sur les fonds environnants (panneaux de descentes, capot de ventilateur, mat...).&#13;
Deux premières visites de cette épave ont pu être effectuées le 13 juillet, soit quatre jours après son immersion et le 13 août 2003. Le but principal de ces observations était d’observer les premiers stades de colonisation de l’épave par les organismes marins. L’étude a pu être reprise sur une base d’observations mensuelles à partir du mois de novembre 2003, grâce à un financement de la DIREN de Guadeloupe.</text>
