(1975).\r\n• faisant le lien avec les habitats cartographiés par les approches de télédétection. Des analyses d’images satellites sont effectuées de manière à identifier les habitats. La typologie Millenium (issue du Millenium Coral Reef Mapping project), faisant référence à la géomorphologie des récifs coralliens, nous a servi de modèle pour réaliser notre typologie : l’existence de blocs au niveau 4 d'EUNIS en fait une typologie « dynamique », capable d'évoluer avec l'acquisition de connaissances nouvelles.
