En 1997, un autre suivi s’est déroulé du 1er au 8 mai, réalisé conjointement par l’ARVAM, l’IFREMER, OCEA et l’Université de la Réunion, afin de compléter la description des peuplements et de comparer les données obtenues (Tessier et al., 1997). En 1999, dans le cadre du programme CORDIO sur le blanchissement corallien et ses impacts écologiques et socio-économiques, des stations de surveillance ont été implantées et sont parties intégrantes de l’ORC.
