L’une des propositions du PGEM de Moorea était de créer des Aires Marines Protégées (AMP) réparties tout autour de l’île de Moorea. Plusieurs Aires Marines Protégées ont donc été établies autour de l’île. Le choix de la localisation de ces AMP est le résultat de nombreuses discussions entre riverains et scientifiques, dont la principale recommandation était d’englober dans l’AMP l’ensemble de la zone allant du de rivage à la pente externe. Afin de valider l’efficacité des AMP, des aires témoins (AMT) ont également été crées, servant de zone ‘contrôle’ dans le suivi des AMP. Ce présent document présente la mise en place de la surveillance scientifique des Aires Marines Protégées (AMP) de Moorea et des Aires Marines Témoins (AMT) et compile les données recueillies en 2004-2005.
