Plus au large, la barrière récifale délimite un lagon dans lequel baignent quelques récifs internes. Le récif frangeant est le plus exposé aux impacts anthropiques divers venant des terres émergées. C’est pourquoi, un suivi de l’état de santé de ce récif est réalisé tous les 7 ans depuis 1989. Title A name given to the resource Bilan des peuplements de poissons d’intérêt commercial en périphérie des sites du projet Réserve Naturelle du Lagon (RNL) Description An account of the resource La DAF a sollicité le bureau d’études « LAGONIA» pour établir un état des lieux des peuplements de poissons d’intérêt commercial sur les récifs situés en périphérie des zones du projet de RNL, à partir d’un protocole standardisé rigoureux et identique sur chacune de ces zones. Les objectifs de cette étude sont donc les suivants : 1. Réaliser un inventaire des principales espèces cibles de la pêcherie artisanale locale observées en périphérie de chacun des sites, avec élaboration de listes d’espèces zonées ; 2. Apprécier pour chacun des sites et pour l’ensemble du projet, la structuration de cette catégorie de poissons, selon plusieurs caractéristiques : • La diversité taxonomique (principales familles et espèces) ; 
La terminologie de « Réserve Naturelle du Lagon » sera conservée dans cette étude, bien qu’il existe aujourd’hui un nouveau projet de protection du milieu marin. Le Parc naturel marin est un outil de gestion intégrée qui a pour objectifs une protection globale de l’écosystème tout en préservant un développement durable des activités liées au milieu marin. Les zones retenues dans le projet RNL et étudiées ici restent donc tout à fait importantes et pourront être prises en considération dans le cadre de ce nouveau projet. • L’abondance de chaque famille et espèce de ces poissons, en terme de nombre d’individus et de biomasse ; • La structure trophique de ces communautés de poissons, en terme de nombre d’individus et de biomasse. 3. Etablir sur le site de Mtsongoma, nouvellement identifié au sein du projet de classement en réserve naturelle, un état des lieux de cette catégorie de poissons selon la même méthodologie. Ce travail vise par ailleurs à enrichir l’état initial du site de Mtsongoma dans le dossier d’instruction du projet, puisque aucune donnée sur les peuplements ichtyologiques de ce site n’était disponible. La présente étude s’inscrit donc dans le cadre de ce projet de classement en AMP d’espaces remarquables du lagon de Mayotte, mais également dans le cadre du Plan d’Action Local 2006-2010 pour la biodiversité.
